Topic 1:  Cell Biology

Standard:

Students will understand that cells are the basic building blocks of all forms of life, defined by structures and interactions that support all of the functions of life from individual cells to complex multicellular systems.   By extension, students will understand that there is an unbroken chain of life on the planet, beginning with the original cells that formed, through cells found in living organisms today.

1.1:  Cell theory, specialization, and cell replacement
1.2:  Ultrastructure of cells
1.3:  Membrane structure
1.4:  Membrane transport
1.5:  Cellular origins
1.6:  Cell division
LIfe is wonderfully complicated.   Stay curious.  Be skeptical.    And above all, ask many questions!
